Its me again ANNIE, I am here again to share with you what i have discovered lately, slowly i have noticed and came across with my husband NICK NICHOLSON, different sites and forum, that his also an avid member, i was surprised in my own little way that i know his user name and password he have used. its like that their is someone whispering to my ear, to go to sites that his been into, and today i went to the site where he also enjoyed exchanging ideas, comments to his fellow friends, i have left a message in that site before, for them to know that Nick passed away, and today i have opened it and saw their comments, message, Will share them it all to you....... I also wanna thank them too from the bottom of my heart in behalf of my husband Nick, to them his EXPAT to their sites and forum.......

I am sorry to hear of your loss Annie.

Expat was indeed a friend to many of us on this online community.

Many of us were aware that he suffered from heart disease for some time, we just did not know how far it had progressed.

It is nice to know that he had someone very loving in his life and by his side.

Thank you for letting us all know rather than thinking he just stopped visiting us.

To all our friends, and readers,

I felt so sad this coming Christmas without my husband Nick Nicholson, it would be BLUE CHRISTMAS WITHOUT HIM, Being with him last Christmas is the most happiest time of my life, our lives, his been so good to all of us, his been a good husband, step dad, a great grand father, a good provider to me. His been my best friend, my mentor, my lover, my husband and most of all my soul mate, What will be my life now without him by my side, I am still trying to pick up the pieces, I know i need to go on with my life, but its not that easy to do, but time will come i know i can move on, and fall in love again, but at this point of time, i am still struggling to what is happening, It will take years for me before i can start with the new chapter in my life, I know i have to move on, but only time can tell, With the help of real and true friends, who are still there for me, giving me their LOVE AND MORAL SUPPORT, i can say i am very lucky...Having real and true friends, are treasured to keep......Here are some picture of us during Christmas and New Year we spent with NICK. You can see the smile on his face how happy and contented he was with us, he called his real genuine family, though were not his legal family to what most people have called it, I cam say Nick have treated us more than his real family, he was saying what the HECK what we spent and have for 4 years is more than were married, sometimes he got mad at me when i told him i am not his legal wife, he will just replied, who CARES ! for him, i am his wife, more than his legal wife, it is because i didn't left him, and have took good care of him even though we don't have more than enough, Nick have been into so many bad relationships, most women his been into got his money and have cheated him....then leave him, with nothing in his pocket. He committed suicide twice because of what happen to him. He was so thankful he have found me, GOD have his ways, we found each other, Though it was just a short years we lived together, but i can say its the most precious and treasured years of our lives. Hope you gonna enjoy looking at our pictures......

This is my opportunity to thanks all Nick's real and true friends who have help us, during our sad moments, specially when my husband was very sick that time, they were always there to lend a helping us, for his medicines and some stuffs that he needs. THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES, GOD BLESS YOU ALL, HAVE A PEACEFUL CHRISTMAS AND BOUNTIFUL NEW YEAR TO ALL..PEACE

To all the readers, friends, avid fans of my husband Nick Nicholson,

To what i have promised to the last blog that i am going to post some pictures of myself, Jim Big Gaines, Andrew Leavold . I have attend the free screening of Movies at Asia Pacific Film Institute, and Zombie 4 After Death is one of the Movies that is being shown, after the show Andrew and Jim shares some stories about making B movies in the Philippine, Jim Big Gaines is one of the Actor that my husband Nick Nicholson worked with in more war movies, Its the first time i meet Jim, his a very cool guy, very approachable, easy to have a talked with, very warm, same with our friend Andrew Leavold, They have both dedicated this tribute to ME, IN BEHALF OF NICK.... We all have missing him so much, I do hope you will all enjoy looking at this pictures....

Andrew first visit with us this October 2010 brought to me Nick movie collection, the second visit was my interview for Nick book FISH, HEAD AND RICE, he took some pictures too, I also accompany Andrew to take a taxi and shot a picture of us on a jeep for a souvenir photo....We will all be missing your our dearest friend Andrew Leavold, great man, awesome friend to all of us.....

October 28,2010 i meet my husband Nick Nicholson friends from the movie he have worked before, namely Jim Big Gaines, Vivian Villahermosa, Dondon Mendoza, Andrew Leavold editor/author , and his friend Daniel Palisa both from Australia. We had our dinner at Gateway Cubao Mall. it was so fun and very memorable to me, I did bring along with me my two daughter in law Ma. Cristina and Charry Flor, We all did enjoy it other company.

Andrew did some interview with Vivian, Andy and Dondon who have worked with Nick most of his movies, the interview is all about my husband Nick Nicholson, on how and what kind of a person he is on the set and in real life. My husband book that he is writing before he die, with the title HEAD, FISH AND RICE hopefully will go through, at the right time...... Will just keep you all updated about it...Its been about 3 months on November 11, since my husband Nick Nicholson passed away but then i am still trying to pick up the pieces and hoping to cope with what happen, I am still searching and looking for an online job, but i wasn't that lucky enough to find a good job, most were bogus and scam, some were offering a slave wage which is 1$ dollar and hour and its an India National who were doing this sub contract, OMG, how can anyone will live with this kind of wage... mostly were taking advantage of one who is really and need and they thought, one can grab this opportunity.... They suck its below the minimum wage.....Why their are people like this.... Why not they die... to lessen the bad people...... Till my nest post...

       At last i have fulfilled my husband NICK NICHOLSON last wished of scattering his ashes at SUBIC BAY SHORE, and of course it will not be a successful Solemn Ceremony without the help of his friends Don Gordon Bell who did his best to came over from Korea just to join me in this special occasion , with Henry Strazlkowski,, and his friend Ed and wife Lucy who own the boat we used to cruise the bay, Tim and his wife also join us to pay their last respect to my husband, we address him a little prayer, and last words. I want to thank all his friends, co-stars, colleagues who send their sympathy and their willingness to join our ceremony, though i wanted you all to come and join me, but we cannot accommodate all, and i am just following his instruction and his wished what , and who will join me to do the ceremony, Again from the bottom of our heart, my family, and in behalf of my husband Nick, i am sending to you all, my deepest and warm THANK YOU..... God bless to you all, more power......peace

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person..When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.They may seem like a godsend and they are.They are there for the reason you need them to be.Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.They may teach you something you have never done.They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.Your job is to accept the lesson,love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

My husband Daniel Patrick ( Nick ) Nicholson, sharing you all the picture i took from the hospital, trying to hang on for me and our love, till his last breath he was trying to fight, but its the end of his rope, the words he was saying to some friends he have talked and chat before when he was still alive, he felt that the end of his road will come to an end, the feeling that he can't take it this coming Christmas day.

He want to still live, but his heart condition can't no longer take the pain. he died peacefully in my arms with my son Jonathan beside me, who was still can't accept that he died, trying to wake him up, to go home.. but we both know he died in peace, with the smile in his face, the smile that i will missed everyday in my life......love you very much baby ko, you've been a great husband and father to my son, to all of us. best brother and friend, to all your best friends, avid fans, readers, of your blog, they will missed your thoughts, the way and your strategy in writing, REST IN PEACE MY LOVE

I am really in need of financial assistance to pay for his hospital bills that we consumed when he was admitted till his death. I am so depressed and very down, Frankly speaking were really run out of fund to pay for all of this, when he started having health problem recently, all our savings went to his medicines, hospital bills and all medical matters, Maybe if his still here and strong like he used to be, we won't be asking any help and so as my self.

In our life we can really tell what is going to happen, Nick and myself hold on to each other, getting our strength to one another, but now his gone. how can i start the new chapter in my life..... 1. I had a good laugh this morning. I posted that that would be my last post. The two biggest tismosos (rumor mongers) picked up on it immediately.... Fucking idiots!
2.I have entered into a somewhat loose publishing agreement for Pinoywood. The guy is my friend and I trust him. All will be revealed in good time.
3. Got some meds today, and my son got me some, however only God knows when I will see him.
4. I will be working on Pinoywood tomorrow, "The Great Snake Deal"

MANILA, Philippines – Celebrities held a fundraising event for veteran actor Dick Israel, who suffered a stroke last month that left half of his body paralyzed and affected his speech.
The event, held Monday night at Merk’s Bar, was attended by Israel’s close friends from the entertainment industry including Richard Merk, Phillip Salvador, Tirso Cruz III, Boots Anson Roa, Bobot Mortiz and Karylle.
Mowelfund and other organizations from the industry also provided support.
The money raised during the event would be used for Israel’s rehabilitation.
The family of Israel said they were grateful to celebrities who attended and supported it.
In his previous interview, Israel recounted that he was still able to shoot one scene for television series "Magkano ang Iyong Dangal" before his stroke. He said the taping was done in the afternoon.

Well as you can see, he is recovering and has the support of the major TV Networks, not too mention MOWELFUND ans a host of other organizations.

I had a handful of friends and could not afford a stay in the hospital. I am still sour grapes with my so called "Friends" here in the Philippines. When I had my colon taken out back in 2007, I needed blood. O-neg to be exact. My kumpare was working with expats who were the best bet to have that type of blood. I asked him if he could ask around, but he couldn't be bothered. Lucky for me my surgeon Dante Mercado was good, and I didn't need the blood.

A couple months later, I sent a message to this guy, and again he was too busy s he was arranging fund raising events for some bass layer who was in the hospital. Imagine how I felt?

This time around, not one of my co workers even called or sent an email to see how I was doing. Well fine, each and every one of you can kiss my ass!

Hi all,

Well, it’s official: it’s time to bid a sad farewell to the store.

I’ve had a fantastic fifteen years at the Trash helm, and the store has provided the greatest possible number opportunities and adventures along the way. Through the doors have come some of the most amazing fellow freaks, some of whom have become lifelong friends, and I’ve had the pleasure and privilege to meet some of my all-time filmmaking heroes. It’s been an exponential learning curve, and wouldn’t have missed a single moment.

Like any micro-business, however, and particularly those catering to “fringe interests” it’s also been a hard road. The last twelve months in particular have been gruelling, but somehow, with each obstacle that has appeared, we’ve managed to keep the doors open, and we thank you for your patience during these turbulent months.

Turning 40 back in February was a big wake-up call for me. I realized I’d spent most of my young adult life in the store; it was a fresh-faced 25 year old who opened Trash Video Mark I back in 1995, their dream job, filmic obsession and childhood fantasy rolled into one. I’ve changed a lot as a person since then, and so has the rest of the world. It’s a mixture of stubbornness, pride and nostalgia – not to mention fear of the unknown - that’s made me stick around for as long as I have.

It was my father’s passing last month that really put things into perspective. Dad had been in poor health for quite a while, and quite seriously ill for the last year, and so it came as no surprise, but still… As devastating and heartbreaking as the experience was, his bravery and dignity towards the end taught me an invaluable life lesson, and that’s to let go when the time comes.

You can imagine spending fifteen years in any one spot…you’re going to start to smell and outwear your welcome! So it’s time, my friends, to bid you adieu.

For me, leaving the store allows me more time to focus on creative projects. The PhD on Philippines B films is more than half finished (a shrunk-down 10,000 word version’s at www.bamboogodsandbionicboys.blogspot.com/2010/07/bamboo-gods-aseacc-conference-paper.html), Machete Maidens is in the can and there are two more films, including Search For Weng Weng, on the boil. I also need to spend more time with my family now that Dad’s gone. More than ever, the last month has been a stark reminder to concentrate on the important things in life while you can.

So what now for Trash?

The doors officially close on 31^st August. If anyone wants to make a serious offer to take over the shop, I’m certainly interested, but you need to contact me quick, or else we start selling off the stock on Saturday 7^th August.

If there are no offers on the shop, there’s the arduous task of liquidating the massive DVD and VHS collection, and dealing with the remaining 28 months of our current lease.

So…Do we sell the store as a business?

Do we just sell the collection, in its entirety or by selling it off tape by tape, disc by disc?

Do we find a new tenant to take over the lease?

The Chief, a low-rent version of M complete with his own Miss Moneypenny, sends him in the pursuit of Mr X, an arch villian with a white sock on his head, who is holding the

Two businessmen, Senor Manolo (classic bad guy Romy Diaz) and Don Simeon (Tony Carreon), pay the demands but Weng Weng suspects foul play and goes deep undercover to reveal the identity of Mr X. Here the James Bond references kick into top gear: Agent OO has even MORE gadgets at his disposal, including a miniature bike which sounds like one of those high-pitched grass cutters and does an incredible leap across a ravine - along a very visible wire! Another highlight is an incredible stunt where Weng Weng gets to use his circus training and walks along a tight rope between two buildings. He then jumps down a garbage chute straight onto his waiting motorbike. Impossible? Mais non!

The opening is a killer - Weng is suspended over the side of a building and gets to ogle naked women through the windows. Now, nudity has never presented a problem to me. But in a Filipino kids film? With midgets involved? The Impossible Kid now ranks up there with 70s Danish sexploitation export The Sinful Dwarf as sleaze mini-classics. Not exactly “dwarfspoitation”, but very sordid indeed. Musically the film offers the same hodge-podge of garbled Bond scores courtesy of Pablo Vergara and, more bizarrely, the theme to The Pink Panther (well, almost). Top of the Manila hit parade is the opener “The Impossible Kid” sung by a cabaret songstress who croons to her micro-hero: “I love you my Weng Weng, come to me and kiss me, I love you Weng Wengggggg!!!” Unfortunately the film is no For Y’ur Height Only, so hoping to strike Comedy Gold a second time is really asking for the impossible - without the surreal rescripting and preposterous English dubbing with bad Peter Lorre impressions, it’s not the same delirious experience. Still, any Weng is good Weng, and we should be thankful for the little guy getting another shot at filmic infamy.

My LADY TERMINATOR interview for next week’s Rave Magazine:

“First she mates…then she terminates!” the posters screamed outside New York City’s fleapit cinemas back in 1988, and for once it wasn’t just some Z film producer’s huckster hyperbole. One can only imagine the 42nd Street crowd’s reaction to bizarre Indonesian splatter-sci-fi Lady Terminator, with the plot of Arnie’s first Terminator grafted onto a supernatural horror tale of a South Seas Queen possessing an ‘American’ anthropologist. Gorgeous, big-haired Barbara Anne Constable plays both Tania and the Queen’s unstoppable killing machine, mowing down hundreds of innocent bystanders with her AK-47, while - in an unexpected riff on the original Terminator - fornicating like a banshee. Breathtakingly surreal, hyper-sleazy and violent in equal doses, and crammed with one over-the-top action setpiece after another, the film is about as loopy as Asian exploitation gets.

Over the years, the legend of Lady Terminator grew amongst tape-trading film nerds. Meanwhile its ‘American’ star was tucked away safely in her suburban home in Brisbane raising two kids, blissfully unaware of her B Queen status. One day a bored Barbara googled her name, and BAM! DVD rereleases, film festival screenings, dress-up parties… Welcome back, Lady T!

London-born Barbara grew up a professional dancer in Australia whose leg injury took her to Hong Kong and into the world of modelling and fashion reporting. After a chance audition for an Indonesian film company, Barbara was offered the lead role in a local Terminator ripoff: no acting experience necessary, but physical endurance was a plus. The film’s cartoon-like Indian producer Ram Soraya “met me at the airport and held up a big wad of cash in US dollars to the customs officials when I arrived. So that set the scene.”

Without warning, Barbara was plunged into the Wild West chaos of Indonesian B-filmmaking. “Everybody were smoking joints on the set, people were off their nuts! I don’t know how they got anything done.” Barbara was expected to perform her own stunts, and as a dancer that didn’t pose a problem. Even so, her pain threshold was pushed to its limits. “I had so many near misses, like half car bodies flying and missing me by two centimetres! I nearly got killed so many times during that film…” After three gruelling months of clinging onto car bonnets and being burnt by bullet squibs (“serious, second-degree burns!”), the final shot was Barbara kicking through a glass door. “The glass should have shattered into small pieces. It was a real pane of effing glass!”

Her ankle was skewered by a long shard of glass, just scraping past her Achilles tendon. Production was shut down for a month – with Barbara on full wages – while a military hospital stitched her up and she regained the ability to walk. “Then I shot that last scene, the candy glass broke the way it was supposed to, and we wrapped.

“Ram Soraya called me a couple of years later and said, ‘We want you to do a comedy.’ I said no. ‘I’ll pay you double?’ ‘No, I’m not coming back. I’ll never get out otherwise!’“

Barbara accepted her role –and her fate – as Lady Terminator, on the understanding that the film would never be screened outside Indonesia. Two years later, Ram Soraya sent Barbara a Betamax copy – and a press clipping the New York Times. “I was like, ‘You’re f*cking kidding me?’ I was mortified.” Even more disturbing was the ‘possession scene’, in which a brutally primitive CGI snake slithers its way into her – ahem – bikini bottoms. “They wanted me to fall onto a bed. I was tied up, and they wanted me to look like I was possessed. That was the scene. They didn’t say, ‘Afterwards we’re going to put this friggin’ snake thing that goes up your v*gina…’!”

Is Barbara still mortified, I wanted to know. “I’ve seen it since with friends over a few drinks, and just laughed all the way through it. It’s a crack-up! People were like, ‘That’s YOU? That’s weird!’ I know!”

MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – Actor-comedian Redford White passed away Sunday morning at his home in Caloocan City after losing his battle with cancer.
According to a certain Edwin Ringo of Barangay 177 in Maligaya Park Subdivision, Novaliches, White, who died at 6:47 a.m., had a brain tumor.
“Ayon sa ating tanod, namatay [siya] dahil sa sakit sa tumor sa utak,” Ringo told radio dzMM.
Singer-composer Jim Paredes, a close friend of the comedian, said White had been sick since February.
“I saw him yesterday (Saturday) to bring him Tita Cory's rosary given to her by Sr. Lucia of Fatima. We hugged the last time, exchanged 'love you, 'pre', had one good laugh, a few tears and an 'ingat 'pre' before I turned around and left his room,” Paredes said.

Redford White in ABS-CBN's "Kokey"

Born Cipriano Cermeno, the comedian, 54, was last seen on television in the ABS-CBN primetime programs “Kokey” (2007) and “Palos” (2008).
He was last seen on the silver screen in the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Iskul Bukol: 20 Years After (The Ungasis and Escaleras Adventure).”
Incidentally, his first television appearance in 1977 was in the “Iskul Bukol” television series.
He was also known as “Sol” in the comedy program “Buddy en Sol” where he starred alongside Eric Quizon. Their successful TV tandem also headlined the movies “Buddy en Sol (Sine ito)” and “Buddy en Sol: Praybeyt depektibs.”
The comedian also starred in various films such as “Tar-San,” “Ala eh... Con Bisoy! Hale-hale-hoy!: Laging panalo ang mga unggoy,” “Haba-baba-doo! Puti-puti-poo!” and “I Do, I Die (Diyos ko Day).”
His earlier films include “Hee-Man: Master of None,” “Billy the Kid and the Sunshine Gid,” “Wrong Rangers,” “Rambo Tan-go,” “Darakula,” and “Tartan.”
Writer Woodrow Serafin said his body will lie in state at 139 Sto. Niño de Maligaya Shrine, Maligaya Subdivision, Novaliches.
‘Honest and good man’
In a text message to ABS-CBN News, Quizon described White as “a good friend, a wonderful father, a loving husband and a faithful son of God.”
“Today is one of the saddest days of my life. A truly honest and good man has passed away. Red was my partner. My sol. We were One. I was the body, he was the soul. I was the vessel, he was the spirit,” he said, adding:
“He was a man who believed in the craft and valued his work. He was a professional and dedicated actor that everybody admired…. He is now one with his creator. We love you Red. We will miss you.”
Quizon, along with Leo Martinez, visited White at his home last Tuesday before he was brought to a Quezon City hospital.
Paredes, on the other hand, said the actor-comedian had taught him many things including “simplicity, generosity, kindness, lightness of spirit, good humor, pure friendship and love.”
“Bahala ka na sa akin sa taas. My tears are welling as I write this. It's been a great wonderful life you have led. I will see you again. I know that. Ingat, p're!” he said.

Filipino comedian Cipriano Cermeno, 55, popularly known as Redford White, passed away on Sunday morning.

Simon Serrano, a family friend, said Cermeno died of complications from brain and lung cancer.

"He had been sick since last February. We tried to consult with other doctors for him to survive, but he passed away this morning," Serrano said in an interview by telephone with GMANews.TV.

He added that the wake of "Tito Redford" may begin at 3 p.m. Sunday in his Caloocan City home.

Jay Agras, desk officer of Barangay 177 in Caloocaan City, confirmed that Cermeno passed away "after 6 a.m. today." Cermeno is a resident of the barangay.

"Pinuntahan po ng tanod ang bahay nila kaninang 9:44 a.m. Napag-alaman na namatay na nga siya. Confirmed na po (A local volunteer already went to Cermeno’s house at 9:44 a.m. It was learned that he had died. It’s confirmed)," Agras said in a phone interview with GMANews.TV.

The actor-comedian is survived by his wife and daughter.

Cermeno's friends in show business announced his demise on the social networking site Twitter.

"At 6:47 [a.m.] today, my great friend, fellow diver and a wonderful human being known to all as Redford White passed away peacefully," said singer and APO Hiking Society member Jim Paredes in his Twitter account.

Paredes said Cermeno died of "complications due to cancer in his lungs and brain."

In his Twitter account, actor Gabe Mercado also said that Cermeno "kept his condition secret even from close friends."

"Redford White was a mentor, a man who had tremendous respect for his craft and was perhaps the most generous man I knew. Rest in peace," Mercado added.

Cermeno began his movie career in the late 1970's. He rose to fame in the television sitcom "Buddy en Sol" with Eric Quizon during the early 90's.

Going to my new doctor, was like going out with an ignorant visayan whore. I hadn't been in her office for more than two minutes and she was trying to get me to buy a digital blood sugar counter/reader. We told her we didn't have any cash with us.She was incredulous. "Oh c'mon, you are rich!"

This went on for some time till finally I got pissed off and explained that yes I did work in the motion picture business for most of my life, but we all got paid slave wages so the producers could have their mistresses and eat their pussy too.

Yes, I did spend 6 lousy years in the Navy, but you needed 20-25 years to get a pension. This left her speechless. She then gave us a bunch of free stuff...

Well, Annie and I went to see Doctor Nazal today. She is a diabetes specialist and cardiologist. She did a thorough examination including ECG and all.

She determined that I have had 4 heart attacks within the last 30 days and was amazed that I was still alive. I told her I was not afraid to die, and the sooner the better. Anyway she gave me a shitload of new meds, and was told to come back and see her in 2 weeks.

I had a very pleasant surprise yesterday. Andrew Leavold called from Australia to let us know he sent some funds our way.We talked for a long time which really wore me out. I ended up sleeping most of the day and into the evening.

It is times like this when you find out who your true friends really are. So far I think I can count all of mine on one hand.

Again I would like to thank Steve Rogers, Jesus Manuel and Andrew Leavold for the help they have extended to us.

Triple Whammy Part Deux

So as I was saying the room was really creepy as was the staff. We had checked into the room at around 8pm on Saturday. The bed was about 3 feet too short for me. But at about this time I didn't really give a shit. In fact, I really couldn't remember too much as I had gone into cardiac arrest. When I came to, I found that they had started an IV in my left hand, with some additional tubing. The doctor was prescribing medication that was about P3k a pop. I think he had this idea that since my skin is white, I could afford anything they wanted to do with me.

I really wanted to get out of there, but didn't have the strength. For one of the first times in my life I felt that perhaps this was one thing that had me fucked. Blood test results had come back and together from what they saw in my Xrays, it was determined that I had Diabetes which in turn caused the Double Pneumonia, which in turn was fucking up my heart which had been fucked up to begin with.

Sunday I had cardiac arrest yet again and they did yet another chemical jump start.. They wanted to put me in ICU, but I wasn't having any of that. The doctor came in an talked to me for about 2 hours about my condition. He didn't tell me anything that I didn't already know.We were asked to sign 2 different waivers, and finally they cut us loose.

My stepson Jonathon and his wife Charry had sourced out a 25lb oxygen tank with regulator and mask. With that next to my bed, I was feeling a little safer. The next day, we went over to Doc Martinez. He explained exactly what was going on.We had to get rid of the fluid in my lungs to take pressure off the heart and get my blood oxygenated. He wrote out a bunch of new scripts for my Diabetes, Pneumonia (which included expectorants and antibiotics) and was told to keep taking my heart meds. I ended up filling about 4 medium shopping bags with phlegm. I was advised to have a bypass done, but I lack funding for that.

This diabetes thing gives me some really weird dreams. and I still have a lot of trouble breathing. All truth be told, I think I will be lucky if I make it to xmas!When you are really fucked, you get this feeling. You know that you are coming close to the end of the road. I feel that now. I am now out of Dormicum and Valium. I was hoping that if I dropped a domicum, I would croak while sleeping. Oh well...

The Triple Whammy

Well here it is from the horses mouth so to speak. I can't hold a normal conversation yet and am sucking oxygen like there is no tomorrow, but I can write. There have been many offers of help and I would like to thank all two of them who actually sent help, Namely Steve Rogers and Jesus Manuel. Thanks to the both of you!!!

Well, everything started the week before last. What I first thought was hemorrhoids turned out to be a nasty anal abscess or simply put a huge fucking boil, the size of a hotdog bun. For you pinoys out there a pigsang dapa. We were going to go see my surgeon Dante Mercado at UST who took out my colon. But when we called, he was in Subic attending some functions. Annie decided to take me to Dr. Martin Martinez who is in the neighborhood. I liked Martin right away as their family was also into film production and were close to the late Cirio Santiago.

Martin wanted me to go to a lab and have a blood test done, to see if he would need to use Vitamin K as I take blood thinners for my heart and he didn't want me bleeding out on his table. I told him I wasn't religious about taking the blood thinners, nonetheless, he still wanted the test. So on Tuesday, over to the lab we went. When I was getting in the Tricycle, it felt like my asshole had been ripped open on a nail.I felt every bump in the road going over and coming home. By the time I got home I already had a minor heart attack due to the stress and pain. I felt also, that I had done a 20k run and was gasping for breath. Meanwhile Annie went and got the Lab results and took them over to Martin.He said everything looked good and would do the surgery the next day at their family's hospital.

Wednesday morning we went to the Martinez Hospital and checked in to the OPD and waited for Martin. Finally he arrived and we went up to the OR. He made around eight incisions, and filled one of those kidney shaped vomit basins with pus. He cleaned the insides with hemostats and gauze sponges. That part hurt. He dressed the wounds and told me to come back and see him in a week. We went home and I was still gasping for breath.

Saturday rolled around and I couldn't breathe at all. Annie came up with the plan of going to the Hell Hospital (Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Hospital) under the guise of getting and oxygen fix. The place wasn't much different than last year. The bedsheets in the ER were still filthy as was the floor. Surprisingly, it was a Saturday night and the ER was empty. They gave me 3 ecg's and determined that I was having a massive heart attack. Next off to XRay where they found that my lungs were full of fluid.I had double pneumonia. This place was like the Hotel California, once you were inside you could never leave. I was admitted and sent to a "Suite" on the 3rd floor.

Suite it wasn't. It was about the size of a jail cell. It did have an aircon, but hadn't been cleaned in months. A few weak attempts of cleaning had been made made and the dirt had just been swept into the corners. There was no TV as had been promised ( somebody had stolen it), and you could see an outline on the wall, where at one time there had been a crucifix which also had been stolen. The place was really creepy. No flush on the toilet. de Buhus.

No quorum kills freedom of info bill

MANILA, Philippines—The House of Representatives accomplished nothing on its last session day Friday, but claims of deceit, threats of arrest and declarations of outrage flew fast and furious.
Declared seven short of a quorum, the House adjourned without ratifying the freedom of information (FOI) bill—a landmark piece of legislation that would have lifted the shroud of secrecy over government transactions and data.
Ratification was to have been the last step before the nine-year-old bill is submitted to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for her signature.
The proponents of the bill tried vainly to save it, even invoking a House rule that allows the arrest of lawmakers. Quezon Rep. Lorenzo Tañada and Manila Rep. Bienvenido Abante were surprised at the lack of a quorum and said they were assured that 142 lawmakers were present before the roll was called.
Bayan Muna Rep. Teodoro Casiño said the proceedings were “a disgrace” as well as “a fitting end to a Congress that, for the last three years, has zealously protected the President and her minions from being held accountable for their crimes against the people.”
An incensed Abante lashed out at Speaker Prospero Nograles for declaring a lack of a quorum, saying the session was a “a sad, painful day for all of us.”
Shouting at the top of his voice, Abante defended the FOI bill. He declared that if Congress was going to act that way, “I want out of this Congress!”
Nograles had insisted that only those in the session hall should be counted, and that without a quorum, the House could not transact business.
Tañada found Nograles’ statement suspicious, saying some of his colleagues were walking in and out of the session hall.
“It seems they deliberately called the roll when there was no quorum,” he said.
Romualdo’s objection
The FOI bill was the first measure read on the floor by Majority Floor Leader Arthur Defensor. But Lakas-Kampi stalwart, Camiguin Rep. Pedro Romualdo, immediately objected.
Nograles suspended the session and lawmakers conferred with Romualdo.
When the session resumed, Romualdo stuck to his objection, saying he was questioning the quorum as a matter of principle.
He said that if lawmakers were interested in passing the bill, they would have attended the session. He complained that no debate even marked its passage.
“We want all transactions in the government to be very transparent. However, Mr. Speaker, it should be based on a law that was properly, legitimately, legally enacted,” Romualdo said.
He said Nograles had implored him “on bended knees” to reconsider his objection but that he refused.
The roll was called after Romualdo’s speech, and only 128 out of 268 lawmakers were recorded as present.
Cibac Rep. Joel Villanueva invoked Section 74 of the House rules allowing the chamber to compel the members’ attendance at the session and to close the session hall’s doors so that nobody would leave.
“We are the people’s representatives, Mr. Speaker. This is the House of the people... we can’t even do our job,” Villanueva said.
Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros seconded Villanueva’s call and pointed out that even Malacañang had called on Congress to pass the FOI bill.
Compostela Valley Rep. Manuel Zamora offered to help arrest his truant colleagues. But Nograles did not bite.
No questions
Villanueva contested Romualdo’s claim that there was no debate on the FOI bill, saying it would not have reached the plenary if this were true.
Abante said that when the bill was presented to the floor for interpellation, no one rose to question it.
He added: “This chamber has approved certain bills or measures without going through heated debates. It does not mean because a measure hasn’t been passed by scrutiny or debate, we have become undemocratic.”
Abante later told reporters that Nograles had prevailed on him to let the House leaders make the motion to ratify the FOI bill. He said this had assured him that the bill would be passed.
He said he was also asked to make a manifestation that the bill would have no retroactive effect.
In a statement he issued through his media officer after the adjournment, Nograles said: “I did my best. But I guess my best wasn’t good enough. I did not expect this to happen, especially because many of the authors were not present. The authors and coauthors would have been enough to sustain the quorum and we were not remiss in requesting their presence.”
But Malou Mangahas of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism said: “What we buried today is not the FOI act. It can still live because it can be refiled; it is a part of the democracy that we cherish. What we buried today is Speaker Nograles and the 14th Congress because they reneged on their duty.”
Powerful forces
The Senate passed a resolution early this week calling on the House to approve the FOI bill.
Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile said he would sponsor the bill in the next Congress.
Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, who chairs the Senate committee on public information and mass media and who authored the FOI version in the Senate, said the failure of the House to approve the measure was “a big disappointment and a big blow to graftbusters.”
“Some powerful forces are still out there to prevent a constitutional right,” said Cayetano, who added that he was committed to pass the same measure in the next Congress.
He also said the incoming administration could “issue an executive order directing the agencies to share information needed by any individual.”
Offering to society
In Malacañang, Press Undersecretary Rogelio Peyuan said lawmakers should refile the FOI bill in the next Congress.
“We hope that lawmakers may see the light when they open the 15th Congress. We expect that they will immediately attend to this bill once refiled because there’s nothing better we can offer society but the passage of the bill,” Peyuan said in a statement.
He added that contrary to reports, the Palace had been very supportive of the bill and its passage.
But according Bayan Muna’s Casiño, “it was obvious from the start that the House leadership and Malacañang frowned upon the FOI bill because they feared it would be used to hold them accountable for their corruption.”
The bill requires all government officials to make public all state records and their own statements of assets, liabilities and net worth, especially when the public interest demands it.
It is intended to promote transparency and good governance and to help the public make informed choices.

LOS ANGELES — Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper, best known for directing and starring in the 1969 cult classic "Easy Rider," died on Saturday at his home in Venice, California, from complications of prostate cancer, a friend told Reuters. Hopper was 74.

The hard-living screen icon died at 8:15 a.m. PT, surrounded by family and friends, said the friend, Alex Hitz.
The two-time Oscar nominee, who appeared in more than 100 films, last March got a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, saying he came to Hollywood from his native Kansas at 18, "so that was my college."
"Everything I’ve learned, I’ve learned from Hollywood," he said. "This has been my home and my schooling."
In a wildly varied career spanning more than 50 years, Hopper appeared alongside his mentor James Dean in "Rebel Without a Cause" and "Giant" in the 1950s and played maniacs in such films as "Apocalypse Now," "Blue Velvet" and "Speed."
He received two Oscar nominations — for writing "EasyRider" (with co-star Peter Fonda and Terry Southern), and for a rare heartwarming turn as an alcoholic high-school basketball coach in the 1986 drama "Hoosiers."
"Easy Rider," regarded is one of the greatest films of American cinema, helped usher in a new era in which the old Hollywood guard was forced to cede power to young filmmakers such as Francis Ford Coppola and Martin Scorsese.
The low-budget blockbuster, originally conceived by Fonda, introduced mainstream moviegoers to pot-smoking, cocaine-dealing, long-haired bikers.
"We'd gone through the whole '60s and nobody had made a film about anybody smoking grass without going out and killing a bunch of nurses," Hopper told Entertainment Weekly in 2005. "I wanted 'Easy Rider' to be a time capsule for people about that period."
Hopper and Fonda were joined on screen by a then-unknown Jack Nicholson as an alcoholic lawyer, but it was not a harmonious set. Hopper clashed violently with everyone and Fonda later described him as a "little fascist freak." Their friendship was destroyed.

Buffeted by privacy snafus and the lingering fallout from a damning, years-old instant messaging thread, Facebook chief exec Mark Zuckerberg switched into full-on damage control Monday, confessing that the sprawling social network had "missed the mark" when it comes to its complex privacy controls — and pledging to do better.
In an open letter published Monday in the Washington Post (whose chairman, Donald E. Graham, just so happens to sit on Facebook's board of directors), Zuckerberg wrote that Facebook has been "growing quickly" and admitted that "sometimes we move too fast."

"Many of you thought our controls were too complex," Zuckerberg's letter reads. "Our intention was to give you lots of granular controls" — uh, you can say that again — "but that may not have been what many of you wanted. We just missed the mark."

Zuckerberg promised, in "coming weeks," privacy controls that will be "much simpler to use" — including an "easy way to turn off all third-party services" that can access your account.

But Zuckerberg wasn't just announcing new privacy features in Monday's open letter; he was also clearly trying to bridge a growing trust gap between Facebook and its increasingly suspicious users, especially in light of reports last week that Facebook (among other social networks) had been passing along user name and IDs to advertisers (including Google's DoubleClick and Yahoo!'s own Right Media) without users' consent. Those privacy loopholes have since been plugged, say Facebook, MySpace and other social networks. [Now they are selling them]

But Zuckerberg is also being dogged by an embarrassing IM thread from when he was a 19-year-old Harvard student, bragging that he'd gathered personal information from thousands of users for the nascent TheFacebook.com. Naturally, the indiscreet IM thread has ignited controversy. Many of my fellow bloggers are coming out with long winded posts about why Mar Roxas got dropped and Binay became da man.

Many are even calling Binay a dumbass when it comes to economics. Well, at the end of the day, Binay inherited a municipality that was heavily in debt and he turned it into a wealthy city, with tons of money in the bank. I never did like Mar and liked him even less when he married Donya Maldita Krorina. All of his campaign Ads were total bullshit and were so bakya! Binay is definitely the dark horse (no pun intended) and I hope he wins. Remember dear friends, the ballot counting is far from over and the title of the "Cleanest Elections Ever" is slowly starting to smell like shit!

I watched Teddy Boy Locsin hurl insults and invectives at the Smartmatic dudes on TV today. Inconsistencies of all kinds are now coming to light. One thing these foreigners didn't know, if you insult a Filipino in front of their friends, you are likely to get stabbed or shot. What more of making them look like idiots in front of the whole country?

Then they show a tabulation thing from one of the PCOS machines that has Citi Bank printed on the side. What's that all about.

Of course we still have the top three sour grapers calling foul, Perlas, Madrigal and Delos Reyes! They then saw fit to troop over to where some PCOS machines were stored, opened them up without clearance from COMELEC and had their own forensic IT people check them out. These three morons should have been thrown in jail right away and disqualified from running from any public office or government job, even as oyster pulis. It never crossed their small simple minds that people just didn't like them? I did have some respect for Nic Perlas, but that evaporated when he thew his lot in with the other two idiots. I now call them "The Three Stooges".

But the best one of all is the "Whistle Blower" they call Koala Boy. I seriously think he is wearing somebody's underwear as a mask, further he can't even spell! He spells PCOS as PICOS! Where in the hell did they find this fruitcake?

Ronnie James Dio, whose soaring vocals, poetic lyrics and mythic tales of a never-ending struggle between good and evil broke new ground in heavy metal, died Sunday, according to a statement from his wife and manager. He was 67.

Dio revealed last summer that he was suffering from stomach cancer shortly after wrapping up a tour in Atlantic City, N.J. with the latest incarnation of Black Sabbath, under the name Heaven And Hell.

"Today my heart is broken," Wendy Dio wrote on the singer's site, adding he died at 7:45 a.m. "Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away.

"Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all," Wendy Dio continued. "We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us ... Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."

The statement was confirmed by Los Angeles publicist Maureen O'Connor.

Dio rose to fame in 1975 as the first lead singer of Rainbow, the heavy metal band put together by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, who had just quit Deep Purple.

Dio then replaced legendary vocalist Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath in 1980 with the critically acclaimed album "Heaven And Hell," considered by many critics to be one of the finest heavy metal albums of all time. His on-again, off-again tenure with Black Sabbath touched off an intense debate among fans as to which singer was the true essence of the band — a discussion that lasted until his death.

He also enjoyed a successful solo career with his self-titled band, Dio, in between his three stints with Black Sabbath (1980-82; 1992; and 2007-2009, when the band toured as Heaven And Hell, to differentiate it from Osbourne-led versions of Sabbath). Many of his most memorable songs revolved around the struggle between good and evil, including his signature tune "Heaven And Hell." He also drew heavily on medieval imagery in songs like "Neon Knights," "Killing The Dragon" and "Stargazer."

"He possessed one of the greatest voices in all of heavy metal, and had a heart to match it," said Twisted Sister guitarist Jay Jay French, whose band toured with Dio since 1983, and was to do so again this summer at European rock festivals. "He was the nicest, classiest person you would ever want to meet."

Dio organized an all-star charity collaboration in 1986 called "Hear N Aid" to raise money for famine relief in Africa, styled on the successful "We Are The World" campaign of a few years earlier. His solo hits included "Rainbow In The Dark, "The Last In Line" and "Holy Diver."

A GOVERNMENT VAN CARRYING LETTERS AND packages was hijacked by armed men on C-5 Road in Libis, Quezon City, on Wednesday morning, the police said Thursday.
SPO3 Gerry Abad of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the Quezon City Police District said two Philippine Postal (Philpost) Corp. employees who were in the van during the hijacking would undergo a lie detector test.
They were identified as Alejandro Alejandro Jr., 48; and Reynaldo Valenzona, 52.
“We want to determine if they are involved or if they have knowledge of the contents of the stolen mail and parcels,” Abad said.
The Philpost workers told the police that the van contained ordinary and international registered letters, express mail and packages from both here and abroad.
They added that they had just come from the main office on their way to a Philpost branch in Quezon City when a black Nissan car (plate number URS 888) blocked their path at around 6:45 a.m. on C-5 Road.
Three armed men alighted from the vehicle, forced them out of the van and made them board the car where two of their cohorts were waiting.
The armed men then drove off with the van toward Makati, with the Nissan following closely behind. The Philpost employees said they were made to get off near Gil Puyat Avenue corner Edsa in Makati City.

Yesterday we got a call from a certain Ruth Gomez allegedly calling from the Philippine Electronic Company with phone number 552-9129, telling us that we won a "Thanksgiving Gift". She told us that our number was selected by means of "Random Selection" of working phone numbers.

We were told that we should go to the Tutuban Center Mall II, 2nd floor, Claiming and Redemption area of Home Sonic. Then we should present a reference number, and present two valid ID's.

After my wife finished talking with this Ruth Gomez, , I decided to call her as I am a member of the media, further a google search revealed tons of negative posts about this Home Sonic. I asked Ruth some leading questions. She tried to give me some cock and bull story which made me laugh. I asked her if Globe was aware of what they were doing and her reply was no. I then asked how this random selection process was, she replied that we had made an incoming call to her company which is pure BS. She didn't know the name of the owner of our Globe line.

Anybody who receives a call like this, BEWARE this is a scam! We are going to investigate this further.

We went for dinner at this place last night. As far as I am concerned it was a big mistake. The Barko is your basic beer house in the shape of a ship, with strings of various colored led lights. They have live music ( if you are into Lady Gaga, which I am not).

Obviously if you are a guy and want to go the route of trying to hook up with someone or courting one of the waitresses (this is as old as the hills here and a waste of time) this may be your cup of tea. One unique thing they do have is Hubbly Bubbly or Hookahs (no, not hookers dumbass!), no weed available, but, whatever.

Be warned, this place is not known for good food. It is a drinking spot plain and simple. We ordered pancit canton and the sahog was precooked and tasted old. I only ate the noodles. We had crispy pata that had been pre boiled then frozen. The meat near the bone was cold and it was tasteless. Further, they didn't even provide vinegar and soy sauce with chilis and garlic which is a necessity with this dish. We also had fried chicken that had been fried and then fried yet again and was the consistency of old shoe leather.

All in all, my call was a total waste of time. When I got home I watched Iron Man 2 and ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I should have just stayed home to begin with.

Robin Padilla faces suit for condom ad

ACTOR ROBIN PADILLA, THE “Bad Boy of Philippine Movies” is being sued for actively endorsing condoms which a political party claimed is an affront to public sensibilities.
Ang Kapatiran Party (AKP) senatorial candidate and lawyer Jo Aurea Imbong Friday asked the Quezon City Regional Trial Court to stop a firm promoting the use of condoms, and its most prominent endorser, from advertising the contraceptive in ads, saying that such materials are against public decency and morality.
Named as defendants in the complaint were actor Robin Padilla and DKT Phils Inc.
The actor is the endorser for Trust Condoms, a brand under the Trust Family Planning line of contraceptive products.

Imbong went to court accompanied by AKP standard bearer JC de los Reyes, who has taken a stand against the proposed reproductive health bill.
“It is respectfully prayed that a writ of preliminary injunction be issued ordering defendant Padilla to cease and desist from publicly espousing and promoting condoms and condom use,” the complaint read.
In an interview, Imbong said it was only right that the government should use its powers to safeguard the moral environment of its citizens.
“The history of great civilizations shows that when its citizens bastardized sex and separated sexuality from marriage, these great civilizations disintegrated,” she added. “We call on Padilla to reexamine his attitude. He should be a good role model for the young.”

De los Reyes said he supported Imbong’s move, adding, “I am aghast that my children are asking why condoms are being sold in convenience stores beside candies,” he said. ( I am aghast that you have children!)
Imbong also asked the court to order DKT Phils. Inc. to stop airing, publishing, and exhibiting ads on condoms and condom use through television, radio, the Internet and magazines.
The plaintiff showed reporters a condom product, the Premiere Earthquake O-ring, which came with a gadget and a free condom, which Imbong said was bought at a convenience store.
“What are these products doing in convenience stores for our youth to see?” asked De los Reyes.

Explicit messages
In justifying the civil complaint, Imbong said the explicit and subliminal messages in the ads convey “an unwholesome and indecent influence upon the audience, especially the young.”
Imbong said that under the Child and Youth Welfare Code, DKT Phils. violated the rights of children as the ads targeting the youth market “partake of the nature of child abuse of the highest order for these deform conscience and corrupt moral character.”
The senatorial bet stressed that the public also has a right to a moral and decent environment, and that both Padilla and DKT Phils. Inc. violated provisions of the Revised Penal Code.

The advertiser violated Article 201 of the RPC that punishes immoral doctrines, obscene publications and exhibitions, she said.
Imbong added that Padilla, on the other hand, violated Article 200 which punishes grave scandal when he publicly promoted and endorsed the use of condoms.

After watching Arnold Clavio and Winnie Monsod with their guests from COMELEC on Unang Hirit this morning, I am sitting here drinking my coffee and I wonder, does COMELEC think everybody else is as stupid as they are? I mean, seriously! After the "Epic Fail" on Monday, COMELEC told everybody that they would collect "all" of the CFC Cards and destroy them, and replace said "destroyed CFC Cards" with new CFC Cards. They promptly ordered 76,000 "new" CFC Cards from several nearby countries. Now we find out that they are in actual fact reformatting the "old" CFC Cards, and still have the "new" cards coming in! What a bunch of morons! Why order new cards if you are going to just reformat the old ones? Could it be that there is something more sinister than just being stupid? I doubt if we will ever get a straight answer to these questions.

Now comes the issue, that the BEI volunteers cannot vote at the precincts that they are assigned to. COMELEC previously had made an allowance for that. Now that option has been removed, and the BEI personnel are only allowed 30 lousy minutes to go vote where they are registered! This is really a mess! Many are registered at locations that are more than 30 minutes away from the precincts they are watching. Ergo, they will not have a chance to vote! COMELECT just say's "thank you for your sacrifice". If it was me, I would tell them... "Kiss my ass motherfucker!"

SAN FRANCISCO—Facebook on Wednesday temporarily shut down its online chat feature after a software glitch let people's friends in the online community see each others' private chat messages.
For a "limited period of time" chat messages and pending friend requests could be made visible to friends, according to Facebook.

For peeks at the usually walled-off information Facebook users had to manipulate a "preview my profile" feature in a particular way, according to Facebook.
"When we received reports of the problem, our engineers promptly diagnosed it and temporarily disabled the chat function," a Facebook spokesman said in an email response to an AFP inquiry.
"We also pushed out a fix to take care of the visible friend requests."
Chat was back in action for most Facebook users by 1900 GMT and it was expected to be working across the website "shortly."
"We worked quickly to resolve this matter, ensuring that once the bug was reported to us, a solution was quickly found and implemented," the Facebook spokesman said.

The software glitch struck as the world's top online social-networking service is increasingly scrutinized regarding the privacy of members.
Slightly more than half of adult users of social networks have posted "risky personal information" such as birth dates or children's photos to profile pages, according to a Consumer Reports survey titled "Social Insecurity."
The survey indicated that 23 percent of Facebook's users "either didn't know that the site offered privacy controls or chose not to use them."

Last week, four US senators expressed concern to Facebook over recent changes to the social network that they say compromises the privacy of its more than 400 million users.
In a letter to Facebook co-founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, the senators said they were concerned that personal information about Facebook users is being made available to third party websites.
They also said the Palo Alto, California-based Facebook should make sharing personal information an "opt-in" procedure in which a user specifically gives permission for data to be shared.
The letter was signed by Democratic senators Charles Schumer of New York, Al Franken of Minnesota, Michael Bennet of Colorado and Mark Begich of Alaska.

VENICE, La. – BP PLC said Monday that it will pay for all the cleanup costs from a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that could continue spewing crude for at least another week.
The company posted a fact sheet on its website saying it took responsibility for the response to the Deepwater Horizon spill and would pay compensation for legitimate claims for property damage, personal injury and commercial losses.
"We are responsible, not for the accident, but we are responsible for the oil and for dealing with it and cleaning the situation up," chief executive Tony Hayward said Monday on ABC's "Good Morning America." He said the equipment that failed on the rig and led to the spill belonged to owner Transocean Ltd., not BP, which operated the rig.
Guy Cantwell, a Transocean spokesman, responded by reading a statement without elaborating.
"We will await all the facts before drawing conclusions and we will not speculate," he said.
Meanwhile, Hayward said chemical dispersants seem to be having a significant impact keeping oil from flowing to the surface, though he did not elaborate.
The update on the dispersants came as BP was preparing a system never tried nearly a mile under water to siphon away the geyser of crude from a blown-out well a mile underwater. However, the plan to lower 74-ton, concrete-and-metal boxes being built to capture the oil and siphon it to a barge waiting at the surface will need at least another six to eight days to get it in place.
That could spill at least another million gallons into the Gulf, on top of the roughly 2.6 million or more that has spilled since the April 20 blast. Those numbers are based on the Coast Guard's estimates that 200,000 gallons a day are spilling out, though officials have cautioned it's impossible to know exactly how much is leaking.
By comparison, the tanker Exxon Valdez spilled 11 million gallons off the Alaska coast in 1989.
Officials also were trying to cap one of the three leaks to make it easier to place the first box on the sea floor.
Crews continued to lay boom in what increasingly feels like a futile effort to keep the spill from reaching the shore, though choppy seas have made that difficult and rendered much of the oil-corraling gear useless.
In Pensacola, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist characterized the spill as "sort of an underground volcano of oil." Dana Powell, manager of the Paradise Inn in Pensacola Beach, said she was already getting numerous phone calls from worried tourists because of the spill and said the disaster was far worse than when a hurricane blows in.
"Now when there's a hurricane, we know it's going to level things, devastate things, be a huge mess and it's going to take several years to clean up," she said. "But this? It's going to kill the wildlife, it's going to kill lifestyles — the shrimpers, the fishermen, tourism. Who's going to come to an oil-covered beach?"
Fishermen from the mouth of the Mississippi River to the Florida Panhandle got the news that more than 6,800 square miles of federal fishing areas were closed, fracturing their livelihood for at least 10 days and likely more just as the prime spring season was kicking in. The slick also was precariously close to a key shipping lane that feeds goods and materials to the interior of the U.S. by the Mississippi River.
Even if the well is shut off in a week, fishermen and wildlife officials wonder how long it will take for the Gulf to recover. Some compare it to Hurricane Katrina, which Louisiana is still recovering from after nearly five years.
"My kids will be talking about the effect of this when they're my age," said 41-year-old Venice charter boat captain Bob Kenney.
Everything engineers have tried so far has failed. After the April 20 oil rig explosion, which killed 11 people, the flow of oil should have been stopped by a blowout preventer, but the mechanism failed. Efforts to remotely activate it have proven fruitless.
The oil could keep gushing for months until a second well can be dug to relieve pressure from the first.
Besides the immediate impact on Gulf industries, shipping along the Mississippi River could soon be limited. Ships carrying food, oil, rubber and much more come through the Southwest Pass to enter the vital waterway.
Shipment delays — either because oil-splattered ships need to be cleaned off at sea before docking or because water lanes are shut down for a time — would raise the cost of transporting those goods.
"We saw that during Hurricane Katrina for a period of time — we saw some prices go up for food and other goods because they couldn't move some fruit down the shipping channels and it got spoiled," PFGBest analyst Phil Flynn said.
The Port of New Orleans said projections suggest the pass will be clear through Tuesday.
President Barack Obama toured the region Sunday, deflecting criticism that his administration was too slow to respond and did too little to stave off the catastrophe.

The blessing of the boats is normally a joyous kickoff to the spring fishing season in St. Bernard Parish. But this year, it had more the air of a funeral.
Some years, as many as 200 craft, most of them working boats, lined up at the Gulf Outlet Marina to be sprinkled with holy water by a priest. On Sunday, only four boats floated by — and not one a commercial vessel.
Capt. Doogie Robin, 84, sat at a bar, sipping a Budweiser from the jaws of an alligator-head beer cozy. He runs eight oyster boats.
"Katrina really hit us hard," he said. "And this here, I think this is going to finish us now. I think this will wipe us off the map."
Even if the oil stays mostly offshore, the consequences could be dire for sea turtles, dolphins and other deepwater marine life — and microscopic plankton and tiny creatures that are a staple of larger animals' diets.
Moby Solangi, director of the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies in Gulfport, Miss., said at least 20 dead sea turtles were found on the state's beaches. He said it's too soon to say whether oil contamination killed them but that it is unusual to have them turning up across such a wide stretch of coast, nearly 30 miles.
Dead jellyfish also were washing up on the beach of an island at the southern end of the Mississippi River on Sunday, said Larry Schweiger, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation. He said it was a larger number than normal, but cautioned what killed them wouldn't be known until samples are analyzed.
Some experts also have said oil could get into the Gulf Stream and flow to the beaches of Florida — and potentially whip around the state's southern tip and up the Eastern Seaboard. Tourist-magnet beaches and countless wildlife could be ruined.
Obama has halted any new offshore drilling projects unless rigs have new safeguards to prevent another disaster.
The containment boxes being built were not part of BP's original response plan. The approach has been used previously only for spills in relatively shallow water. Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen said engineers are still examining whether the valves and other systems that feed oil to a ship on the surface can withstand the extra pressures of the deep.
BP was trying to cap the smallest of three leaks with underwater robots in the hope it will make it easier to place a single oil-siphoning container over the wreck. One of the robots cut the damaged end off a pipe at the smallest leak Sunday and officials were hoping to cap it with a sleeve and valve, Coast Guard spokesman Brandon Blackwell said Monday. He did not know how much oil was coming from that leak.
"We see this as an opportunity to simplify the seafloor mission a little bit, so we're working this aggressively," BP spokesman Steve Rinehart said.
BP has not said how much oil is beneath the seabed the Deepwater Horizon rig was tapping when it exploded. A company official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the volume of reserves, confirmed reports that it was tens of millions of barrels. Bob Fryar, senior vice president for BP in Angola, said any numbers being thrown out are just estimates at best.
Peter Young has worked nearly 18 years as a fishing guide and said he's afraid his way of life may be slipping away. The government has overreacted by shutting down vital fishing areas in the marshes, he said.
Until he sees oil himself, Young will keep fishing the closed areas.
"They can take me to jail," he said. "This is our livelihood. I'm not going to take customers into oil, but until I see it, I can't sit home and not work."

The majority of these ladies lack any formal education, many have not even reached high school. I went on to add that in spite of these educational challenges, they supported their respective family's the only way they knew how, that would bring in enough money to meet their personal crisis. Further, I told her that the Philippine Government didn't offer much in the way of alternate livelihood programs. Nor did any other do gooder organizations out there! At the end of the day these "ladies" hold my utmost respect! I have much more respect for them, than I do these rich, sosyal bitches from Makati who were born with silver spoons in their mouths at birth and have never done an honest day's work their whole spoiled lives.

While shooting the film "Fortunes of War" at SBMA, Olangapo, and Subic City, I had a lot of time to spend with the "Bar Girls" in these areas. Notable were the girls from Uncle Sam's club in Barrio Barreto. I would go in for a beer in the early afternoon, and only the bartender was there. I asked where the girls were and he told me they were over at Fr. Shay Cullen's, learning alternative skills. After a while the girls returned and i asked what the priest was teaching them. They all laughed and said Banana Q's! They all thought that he was quite the retard for thinking by selling a few fried bananas, they could even come close to earning what they did by turning tricks.

He made statements about Senior Citizens and Retire-able Teachers that were unsavory, slanderous, and full of hypocrisy. Just to refresh your memory, he said that Senior Citizens had learning disabilities and the same went for Retire-able teachers and he would not allow them near a PCOS machine. I am a Senior Citizen and I can run rings around this arrogant moron as I am sure other Seniors could. Just because we are over 60 years old does not mean that we are senile.

Further he made stupid and irresponsible comments about students transferring from private to public schools. This idiot needs a reality check and fast!

I work nights as most people know, so I am up all night even during week ends. Last night I happened to come across a TV show called Diyos at Bayan on Channel 11 QTV.

They had three guests which were 2 women and 1 man. I am sorry but I cannot remember their names as I wasn't paying attention till the male guest who wore glasses started to talk. He was a pompous moron!

He made statements on national TV that were hypocritical and moronic to the nth degree. He was saying that Senior Citizens were beyond or did not have the capacity to learn!!! Further he was saying that he would not allow retire-able teachers to man the PCOS machines as the technology was beyond their mental capacity.

I really wish I could have caught this idiot's name, and where he worked, as I would file a complaint against him with his superiors. In the first place there are many of us Seniors who could run rings around this simpering, pompous, fucktard when it comes to technology and other issues.

From what I can see, this show belongs to Bro. Eddie Villanueva. And since he his also a Senior Citizen, then maybe he is not qualified to be president!

The girls spoke up after Simon Watts, a teacher at Public School 15 in Springfield Gardens, was collared on Wednesday.
"[My daughter]'s been crying. She's really upset," said the dad of one of the nine girls. "I'm upset. I'm angry. How did this go under the radar for so long?"
His 10-year-old daughter, whose name is being withheld by the Daily News, said Watts asked her to come in early and paid special attention to her.
"I thought it was good. A teacher was taking an interest in my daughter," said the dad, whose daughter told him about the alleged abuse in a handwritten letter Thursday.
The letter from the girl reads, "Mr. S. Watts has touched me inappropriately when I was in the 4th grade. He has rubbed my arms, gave me mashages [sic], touched my face and told me I was beautiful."
The family was struggling to understand what happened, both parents said yesterday. "How do we go on? We don't know how to function," said the girl's mother.
City Education Department spokesman David Cantor said the agency moved swiftly to remove Watts from school once the NYPD alerted the agency of the possible abuse.
Watts faces felony charges in the serial abuse of five girls beginning in 2007, when he arrived at the Springfield Gardens school.
While working as a teacher at Brooklyn's PS 115, Watts was investigated by the city Education Department for two allegations of corporal punishment in 2005. Only one was substantiated.
The special school investigator's office also investigated Watts for a separate, unsubstantiated allegation during his time at PS 115 in 2005.

I just got back from the hospital... again... and they wanted to keep me in there to do tests and other related bullshit! I wasn't having any of it! I told the doctor that God and I had a deal. That is, when he wants me, he can have me. This little foray cost me 2.5k which I can ill afford.

My Senior Citizens Card was useless. I told the doctor, "What is the point of this test or that test? Why should I see a pulmanologist (whatever that is)? You guys try to keep prolonging my life and for what? It's like a bad cliff hanger serial!"

The doctor told me I had to quit smoking! I told her that she might as well tell me to quit breathing! Fuck that noise! I have been smoking cigarettes (and a lot of other shit) since I was 12, and I ain't gonna fuck up my body's rhythm now!

NAIROBI (Reuters) – Somali pirates threatened on Wednesday to blow up a hijacked oil supertanker unless a $20 million ransom was paid and captured a Panama-flagged merchant ship.
South Korea sent a destroyer to intercept the Samho Dream, laden with 2 million barrels of crude oil, and its crew of five South Koreans and 19 Filipinos, after it was seized this month.
"We are demanding $20 million to release the large South Korea ship," said Hashi, commander of the pirates holding the Singapore-owned vessel.
"The ship and the crew are safe. We know some warships are plotting to attack us, but we are telling them that the ship will be blown up if we are attacked," he said from the pirate lair of Hobyo.
The sea gangs have made off with millions of dollars in ransoms by roaming the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean and seizing vessels and their crews.
Maritime experts say the pirates have stepped up attacks, largely due to good weather that favors their operations.
Andrew Mwangura of the Kenya-based East Africa Seafarers' Assistance Programme said the Panama-flagged MV Voc Daisy was seized in the early hours, 190 miles southeast of the Omani port of Salalah. It has 21 Filipino crew members.
He said the bulk carrier had been sailing from the United Arab Emirates to an unspecified port on the Suez Canal. It was not immediately clear what it was carrying.
The European Union naval patrol force in the region confirmed the seizure of the 47,183 dwt ship on its website.
Three Thai fishing vessels were seized over the weekend and several unsuccessful attacks have been carried out since then.
The sea gangs have extended their reach southwards and toward India to avoid a flotilla of foreign navies patrolling the waters off Somalia.
One such Somali group lost its way when returning to the pirate lair of Hobyo from the Seychelles but instead found themselves in the Kenyan port city of Mombasa.
Abdulkhadir Jim'ale, who returned to his home town Galkayo at the weekend, told Reuters the gang was returning from Seychelles after a failed trip to hunt commercial ships in the Indian Ocean, because they had run out of supplies.
"We had been in the high seas for a few days when we run out of food and drinking water. We decided to head back to Hobyo but at midnight, we found ourselves in a shiny city with lights," Jim'ale said.
"It was Mombasa. We threw our guns into the sea, left the boat at the beach and sneaked into the city in the dark."
Four of his colleagues made their way back to Somalia but three are still missing.

SAO PAULO – The detention of an 83-year-old priest in Brazil for allegedly abusing boys as young as 12 has added to the scandals hitting the Roman Catholic Church in Latin America, even as Chile's bishops asked pardon Tuesday for past cases.
The allegations against Monsignor Luiz Marques Barbosa — and two other Brazilian priests — have made headlines throughout the world's most populous Catholic nation and come amid accusations of sexual abuse by priests around the world.
The scandal erupted when Brazilian television network SBT last month broadcast a tape of Barbosa in bed with a 19-year-old that was widely distributed on the Internet.
The station said the video was secretly filmed in January 2009 and sent anonymously to the network. It was not clear if the 19-year-old, identified as a former altar boy who had worked with Barbosa for four years, had previous sexual relations with the priest.
SBT reporters went to Barbosa's house and confronted him. Asked if he ever abused boys, Barbosa said he could only answer such a question "in confession" and cut off the interview.
Brazil's legislature launched a sex abuse investigation, which produced allegations that Barbosa molested boys. The elderly priest was detained late Sunday. Prosecutors will now decide whether to file child abuse charges.
Barbosa's lawyer, Edson Maia, plans to seek his release from detention, citing the man's advanced age and arguing he has a fixed address and does not pose a flight risk, the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo reported Tuesday.
Congressional investigators said more than 20 witnesses were called and some testified Barbosa and two other priests in the same northeastern archdiocese had abused boys as young as 12, plying them with money, clothes and other gifts.
Bishop Valerio Breda of the Penedo archdiocese in the northeastern state of Alagoas said recently that all three priests had been suspended and that the church was conducting its own investigation. Breda could not be reached Tuesday.
The National Conference of Brazilian Bishops does not plan to comment on the case and all questions should be directed to the local diocese, spokesman Geraldo Martins said.
Latin Americans priests have faced a cascade of accusations of abuse of minors.
A priest in Chile was charged recently with eight cases of sexually abusing minors, including a girl he had fathered.
Chile's bishops' conference issued a statement Tuesday apologizing for priestly sexual abuse and vowing a "total commitment" to prevent it in the future.
"There is no place in the priesthood for those who abuse minors and there are no pretexts whatever that can justify this crime," said Monsignor Alejandro Goic, president of the Episcopal Conference.
"To the people directly affected and to the communities in Chile that have found reason for scandal in some priest, we ask pardon and urge them to tell us of these events," he said.
On Tuesday, a Mexican citizen filed a civil lawsuit in U.S. federal court in California against former priest Nicolas Aguilar Rivera and the Roman Catholic cardinals of Mexico City and Los Angeles, claiming they moved the priest between the two nations to hide abuse allegations. An advocacy group, Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, said the plaintiff alleges Aguilar Rivera molested him in the mid-1990s when he was 12.

Two other lawsuits against Aguilar Rivera have been thrown out by California state judges who ruled a Mexican citizen could not sue another Mexican citizen in a U.S. court, but the advocacy group said the new suit employs an 1789 federal law that allows a foreigner to file a civil claim in the United States.
The whereabouts of Aguilar Rivera in Mexico are unknown.
In a report last week, The Associated Press detailed how its reporters around the globe had found 30 cases of priests accused of abuse who were transferred or moved abroad by the church and some escaped police investigations. Many had access to children in other countries, and some abused again. The probe spanned 21 nations across six continents.
Feeding the controversy, Pope Benedict XVI's second-in-command outraged many last week in Chile when he said homosexuality and not celibacy was the primary reason for the abuse.
"Many psychologists and psychiatrists have demonstrated that there is no relation between celibacy and pedophilia. But many others have demonstrated, I have been told recently, that there is a relation between homosexuality and pedophilia. That is true," Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone told reporters April 12 at a news conference in Santiago. "That is the problem."
The comments by Bertone, the Vatican's secretary of state, were condemned by gay advocacy groups, politicians and even the French government.
On Sunday, a teary-eyed Pope Benedict XVI met with abuse victims in Malta and said the church will do everything possible to protect children and bring abusive priests to justice, the Vatican said.
The emotional moment carried no new admissions from the Vatican, which has strongly rejected accusations that efforts to cover up for abusive priests were directed by the church hierarchy for decades. But the pontiff told the men that the church would "implement effective measures" to protect children, the Vatican said, without offering details.

MANILA, Philippines - Church leaders in the Catholic Philippines said on Monday they would relocate an American priest after they found out he was convicted of sexual misconduct when he was a seminarian in 1988.
Father Joseph Skelton is to be moved from his ministry in central Tagbilaran city where he has served for years to a still undisclosed place, an official at the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said.
"The CBCP will issue an official statement on the matter within the next few days," a spokesman for the conference who did not want to be named, told AFP.
The spokesman declined to comment further, but referred AFP to a story published on the conference's official website at the weekend.
That article also said Skelton would be moved, but emphasised he was due for transfer to another assignment within the Tagbilaran diocese before news of the scandal broke.
The website story on the website said the bishops only found out in November that Skelton was convicted of sexual misconduct when he was a seminarian in Detroit, Michigan, in 1988.
"Had I known of his conviction, I would not have ordained him," the website quoted Tagbilaran's former bishop, Leopoldo Tumulak, as saying.
Tumulak served in Tagbilaran from 1992 to 2005, and it was during this period that Skelton was ordained.
Tumulak described Skelton as "happy, contented and very particular in celebrating the liturgy meaningfully and well," the website said.
Skelton has refused to discuss the case, according to the bishops' website, and calls by AFP to the Tagbilaran diocese on Monday went unanswered.
The conference did not give other details about Skelton's background and no explanation was given as to why he was allowed to continue to serve after his history of sexual abuse was uncovered.
Bishop-accountability.org, a US-based non-profit website that tracks sexual abuses in the church, said he resigned from the Michigan seminary in 1988 after pleading guilty to abusing a 15 year-old boy.
