Reply from Jollibee

Dear Mr. Nicholson,

Thank you for your email. We wish to clarify that the VAT Exemption for senior citizens, while already passed on as a law by virtue of RA 9994 has not yet taken effect, and this is the primary reason why we are unable to extend it yet to our customers. As advised by the DSWD, they need to publish first the implementing rules and guidelines in any newspaper or in the official gazette for proper implementation of the law. As stated in Section 13 of Republic Act 9994 or the Expanded Senior Citizen act of 2010, the law will “take effect fifteen (15) days after its complete publication in the Official Gazette or in at least two (2) newspapers of general circulation, whichever comes earlier”.

We hope that you understand that as of the moment, we are only limited to giving out the old senior citizens‘ discount. Rest assured that we will fully comply with this law on VAT exemption as soon as it has officially taken effect.

Thank you and we look forward to your next visit!

Sincerely,

Dennis C. Reyes

Well, obviously these guys don't know how to count, and DSWD is dragging their feet! Dennis I ask you this, do you really think I will ever visit one of your crappy outlets again? I don't think so! Three years ago, I let Jollibee off the hook for serving rotten lettuce on a "Champ Burger"  at their Robinson's outlet, Ortigas. Now, after embarrassing me in front of my wife here in Caloocan! Screw you!
